Rhine Confederation

To create a sanitary cordon between France and its traditional enemies, Napoleon decided to transform the countries of the Holy Roman Empire into a buffer zone: the Confederation of the Rhine. By flattering them, he established an alliance with his small and sometimes pretentious monarchs.
